"You are not alone"- May is Mental Health Awareness Month

Have you ever felt like you just want to be alone? How about so weighed down that you lack motivation to get up and get the day started? Well you are certainly not alone. In honor of the month of May, we are observing Mental Health Awareness and all that it entails, which is ALOT (is that a word??) Millions of Americans face the reality of living with a mental illness. I am part of that demographic. Or is anxiety considered as such? I was diagnosed with GAD- Generalized Anxiety Disorder in my early 30's .... it was like I hit a brick wall. But, my life wasn't over, it was just beginning. Thankfully, I had enough strength to accept my diagnosis and be proactive enough to seek treatment. Can I tell you that life is a little bit easier if you can manage your trials whatever form they come in, however, when life becomes overwhelming and you simply cannot manage everything on your own, then you have a challenge in addition to dealing with your diagnosis. I am grateful that mental health is slowly but surely becoming de-stigmatized but we are still a long ways from total "immunity" from the stigma. After all, doesn't it make more sense to deal with a thing and accept it and treat it instead of ignoring it or allowing the situation to worsen due to oblivion?? Anyways I am here to break and dismantle the stigma. Gone are the days when the Therapist along with their DSM Bible became the bearer of bad news of your diagnosis- it is time to face your demon and banish it with all of your might!!!!! Society is always evolving and we are living in a time where there are no more secrets only truths that must become our testimony and story. If you need help or don't know where to start on your journey to healing, please email me. Do not stay silent and suffer: this is the precursor to depression and destruction. The message of 2021 is simply this: " You Are NOT Alone" no matter how you feel or think..... for more information please contact the NAMI Hotline 1-800-950-NAMI or text "NAMI" to 741741. God bless you and remember, you are LOVED, you are VALUED and you deserve to LIVE. Believe. Have faith. God bless you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
