Happy Independence Day! Why we celebrate?

Happy Independence Day!

July 4th also known as Independence Day has been a federal holiday in the United States since 1941. The tradition dates back to the American Revolution (Revolutionary War) of 1775. The Continental Congress voted in favor of independence on July 2, 1776. On July 4, 1776, the Declaration of Independence drafted by former president Thomas Jefferson was adopted by delegates from the 13 colonies. These included New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. These 13 colonies/States connected together to form the United States of America.

In light of the recent events that have shook our Nation: the 2020 C-19 Pandemic, continuous political dissension, racial injustices & tensions, rising unemployment/underemployment, gender disparities, rising trillion dollar deficit, immigration reform, human & sex trafficking, not to mention the war for our minds through misinformation, disinformation of the mass media, domestic violence, African American community genocide, gentrification (to name a few)…..

We still have an inherent duty to honor those who built this great nation, still the greatest nation in the world and as American Citizens we must continue to uphold the spirit of our forefathers & ancestors who slaved and toiled to bring this nation to where we stand today.

Let us not forget our civic duty to treat everyone as equal and with the love of the Most High.

Whether you are immigrant or indigenous to this Nation, remember why we celebrate July 4th through these 5 truths of the Declaration of Independence:

All men are created equal. All people should be and have to be treated the same way.

Unalienable rights. Given to by the creator.

Purpose of government. Protects your rights.

Power of Government. Comes from the people.

Right of Revolution.

be safe, be well & enjoy!
