Goodbye to 2021

This has been a year for me.

It started off with the move to a new town 40 miles away, new county and new environment, new home, new furniture and new neighbors... It also started off with a personal encounter while driving through a February snow storm with the Most High…..

The spiritual, personal and mental warfare that I experienced this year was like no other. Health challenges with my son: 2 fruitless hospital visits, doctors that were indifferent and dismissive, a fender bender, target of a personal scam target of my business (on LinkedIn twice), personal development challenges at work and in my business, cybersecurity attacks on our productivity and computer systems at work, mental health struggles of my own. Combined with isolation, anxiety, panic attacks, disappointments, setbacks, and delays, internal and external conflict. All while hunkering down from the externals (C19 vxxxx consciousness, social media & media (I don’t watch TV anyways) daily distractions and socialization)-I developed a new spiritual frequency combined with a new study discipline, one that gave me an incessant hunger for the academia, research and studying.

So many questions and not enough answers. Many times I found myself secluded seeking the Most High for direction, answers, revelation and encouragement. Many times the things in our lives may not make sense even though you can plan everything out (just like I always attempt to do). This leaves many without answers and speechless, technically helpless….I grew tired of asking others for answers because they didn’t possess them or couldn’t related…so I tapped into my quiet place and asked for answers to the whys?? How many of you know that He won’t always give you a clear answer instantly? Many times the answer is revealed through instinct, intuition and situations. How do you know that God is up to something and will work out your situation? Through staying in relationship with Him; stay connected long enough and he will guide you to the next step, and then to the next step and so on and so forth.

I discovered this intimacy through all of the adversities and afflictions. Now, was the whole year doom and gloom? No! I traveled, worked hard on the foundational aspects of my business, worked on my photography, started hiking and took classes all year long through the Theatre Lab in DC, Prince George’s Community College and my soon to be alma matter, University of Maryland [University College] Global Campus (UMGC). Through all of the above, I discovered a fortitude that I never knew existed, a fiery resiliency of sorts. It taught me to never look to man or people for help or support, my hope is in the Most High. So I changed my approach. My perspective was reset. My goals and directions were refocused.

Ok, so, let’s be honest for a second, who likes to go through a challenge or go through affliction? Nobody and I mean NOBODY that I know, wakes up and says, “(yawn) Ohhhhh, It’s a beautiful day! God can you send me a great problem or challenge? Pleeease!!! I just love challenges and that would really make my day! Thank you God, amen!”

Probably most, if not all of us are praying and hoping for the opposite! I know that I am! But through all of the challenges and ups and downs, one thing for sure was evident: my reliance inevitably on the Most High was the best thing that I did. I guess I needed an alignment. If you have ever needed or had your car aligned you will know what I am referring to in this scenario:

A car that needs an alignment is one that’s wheels are not gripping the road properly. I used to think that an alignment meant that your car was driving straight. No, this is incorrect. An alignment assures that your tires meet the road at the right angle. This occurs when your tires are centered in the wheel wells and your wheels are pointing straight. An alignment adjusts the angles of your vehicles wheels to original state for optimal performance: proper road contact, smoother ride and longer tire life. During a proper alignment, your wheels are rotated and adjusted. You will know if you need an alignment when you turn your wheels often with little tire movement and your tire tread is uneven; misalignment caused by the driver and the road will cause your car to drive askew…. So many people are driving out of alignment on the roads of life and will never stop long enough to obtain a proper alignment.

Could it be that my personal encounter with the Most High earlier this year was my defining moment that preceded my much needed alignment?

Many people go through things in life and some more than others, but what your response is to that “go through” moment will determine your attitude, character development and mindset. I can honestly say that like Paul, it was good that I was afflicted. There are some things that I don’t do anymore and some places that I don’t go anymore. I can honestly say that I am glad that I had those challenges, but more than anything I am glad the Most High bought me through them. All he needs is a Yes, to accept the challenge and trust that he will take you through that challenge and bring you out. Trust me; the end result will be all worth it in the end. So what was my end result for this particular challenge? 3.69 GPA in the second to last semester before I graduate in 2022. I am really looking forward to walking across that stage. Had I not been aligned spiritually, mentally and academically, I would have flunked out completely due to the level of challenges that I endured, not only academically but mentally. I have been realigned with the inception of my purpose.

Our response to affliction and trials of life and the cognizance thereof will be reflected in our attitudes and determine our maturity level.

I discovered some additional elements of strength connected to my purpose and goals…….This is just the beginning…..stay tuned.

What are you walking through? What are you looking forward to in 2022? A challenge, realignment or are you content where you are?

More updates to come!

Read I Peter 5:10

NCB Version

After you have suffered for a brief period, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and support you.

NCV Version

And after you suffer for a short time, God, who gives all grace, will make everything right. He will make you strong and support you and keep you from falling. He called you to share in his glory in Christ, a glory that will continue forever.
